SPRAY PATTERN PROBLEM

Hi Guys,
I have a Devilbiss GFG-670 Plus. For the last couple of paint jobs it
has been doing a "pulsating" spray pattern. It will spray nice for 4-5
seconds and cut out (the flow will stop) for a second, and back and
forth like that. The air pressure never changes. It is driving me nuts!
Can anyone please tell me what is wrong so I can fix it. I spray PPG
single stage paint....if you need to know.
Thanks in advance!!
Damon

Dis-assemble and thoroughly clean the gun, renew or soften and tighten the packing nuts and clean the air vent for the cup. There should be a fine strainer in the base of the cup, maybe plugged. A good cleaning makes my guns spray just like new.

Not sure if thats it...I clean it very well and lube the threads every time I use it, because you are very rite, they should always be very clean.
However I havent done any thing with the packing nuts, what do I need to do with that process?
I dont see any strainer at the base of the cup, could it be any place else?
Thanks Mike in MN

Have you added enough paint thinner? The directions should be on your paint can. I used the same paint on my tiller in 2006. Hal

The 670 is a gravity gun. Pull the cup and check the chamber for paint build up. You will probably need to soak the gun in a commercial gun cleaner that contains paint Stripper. Also are you using a strainer when you fill the paint cup? Any lumps in the paint will cause eratic spray patterns.
