Electrolysis question, and paint question

I used electrolysis to clean on the tractor seat for my 8N. My question is how do you get all the black out of the pits? I used a grey scotchbrite pad and soap and water then rinsed it, still a lot of black on surface and in pits. went over it with a wire wheel and there is still black in pits. Can I paint over this in this condition. I have wiped it 4 or 5 times with a wax and grease remover, rag is almost clean,
Also I want to use epoxy primer and from reading I have done here I know I should not mix paint brands, would I be better to just use Rustoleum primers and paint or put epoxy on it then Rustoleum high build primer and then finish coat.
any help would be appreciated.

I use Picklex 20 or Must for Rust to deactivate the rust in the pits. You don't have to wash it off, just a scotchbrite pad to remove most of the residue, then wax and grease remover, followed by epoxy. I don't use any form of Rustoleum, and if you do and apply epoxy over it the epoxy will do you no good. To more or less fill the pits you need a sandable surfacer or high build primer over the epoxy, meaning applying and sanding several times. BUT, if that was mine with all those pits, I would get a new seat.

I do have another seat in better shape so I think I will use that one, it still has some pits but not as deep and as many. I will use the badly pitted one for practice
If I use Pickle X do I brush it on and keep it wet for a while and then wipe residue off, let it dry good then epoxy. If I use rustoleum it would be after epoxy.
Thanks for your response.

You brush Picklex on once and let it dry, best several hours or overnight. Remove all the dry residue you can and clean the surface with wax and grease remover. Rustoleum will do you no good before or after epoxy. Use a high build surfacer over the epoxy sand and repeat as needed. Toss the rustoleum.
