since tsc ditched valspar I used magic once when it first hit the shelf, wasn't impressed, have avoided it now for some time... had switched to nason single stage ( like that just fine.. )

Buddy from out of town came buy and dropepd off some goodies for me ( old large saw blades i make knives out of ), and a gallon of magic ford red he overbought didn't use when he just painted a tractor had a quart of 'white' for the tins. I picked up another quart, and in a week or 2 will give it one last try. If it was just as bad as before.. that will be it. Will see. My only investment is a quart of white ( at least it was even on sale at tsc too.. ).. plus my reducer and hardner i already had.... will repost back after i paint with it.

hopefully they will have improved it's quality

i used the majic on a landscapers 301a deere. the tractor was beat up and he just wanted color on it cheap. i used hardener and baked it in my spray booth. didnt come out bad, he was more than happy with it. its not show quality by any means, but the tractor looked better at jobsites, and that is what he wanted.

I shot some metal frames, over a month ago, with it, with hardener. You can rake it off with your fingernail, what is left. It is not only not worth the effort, it is detrimental.
I have never been impressed with Valspar either though.

I have not had problems in the application of it. I Probly reduce it a little thin and put on a tac coat first and then three or more light coats over that. I never timed it but fiddle with something else for a few minutes between coats. I mix in the hardener and let it set for close to an hour before loading the gun.

I wouldn't hold my breath.

Personally I wouldn't waste time or money on that stuff.

My $.02 worth.

well, this will be it's last go around for me if it is still like it was.

I'll have less than 20$ invested if it goes badly, and the tractor is a worker mutt that just needs rest prevention paint.. so a good test candidate in case the paint is as good as it was when i tried it the first time.

I have 2 gallons of Sherwin Williams Sher Kim I am going to be using in the next few days, excited to see how it works and looks. I sprayed Valspar on an 8n a few weeks ago and I am very happy with it. It looks good and very tuff after it aged a few weeks.
