Hardner with John deere Classic green

I bought Classic green from the local JD Dealer, but he does not have the hardner. What hardner is compatable with this paint? Or , do I need hardener? This will not be a SHOW tractor. A 1953 "60" A little use and an ocassional show, but I do not like the extra shiney seen at some shows. Looking for more like original finish. Thanks

You don't NEED hardener. It will harden on it's own it just takes longer.
Also paint with hardener I think is more forgiving to inexperienced spray gun operators.
Hardener is also VERY dangerous !!!! to breath in.

You need a Synthetic hardener for your John Deere paint. A good parts store that carries paint should have it. it will be about 1/2 price of John Deere hardner.

if it is straight alkyd.. valspar hardner will work.

if it's syn enamil.. try the nason single stage hardner.. quick cure...

I like it beter than the valspar hardner. costs 2x.. but IMHO.. is better.

keep in mind the warnings about hardner use.

some people are so sensitive to it that just smelling a painted tractor that is still curing gets them. others can just paint using a N95 mask and never miss a beat.

I used JD Classic green with the hardner from Tractor Supply. I think it was called Majic. It worked fine and looks nice.
