Omni paint jobs

I have painted three of my Oliver tractors with MAE 925956 green, MP170 epoxy primer, MP175 hardner, and MR 186-1 med reducer, and they turned out pretty good. ( For a barnyard paint job !) But even though I use hardner, they don"t shine as much as I would like. I"m about ready to paint another one. Can I spray a clear coat after I turn em green? If so, how soon does one spray the clear after color?

Add clear to the final coat as noted in the instruction sheet on PPG's web site (I have not tried that). Clear is not necessarily for a better shine, but for reducing fading. Unfortunately for you it is not Omni at fault, but yours. I am not an expert painter, but for the last 12 years I have not had a problem getting a shine. I have had other problems such as cooties in my paint.

Omni MAE is their acrylic enamel paint. It isn't as good as the Omni MTK urethane line. I have seen the gloss on MAE jobs die back before but I never had that problem with the MTK. If the MAE is cured you can resand the MAE and shoot clear over it.

Did you wait for the paint to flash between coats. Then give it a wet coat on the last coat.
I used Dupont's acrylic enamel on the light almond
and New Holland's blue on my tractor in 2010. Still looks good. Hal

I forgot the tractor picture. Hal
