Carb cleaner for overspray

Spent some time this weekend painting, and got some overspray on part of hood. I have always used paint thinner to remove overspray, but I was out of it so I grabbed a can of carb cleaner and figured id try it.. This stuff works ten times better than thinner! Didn't have any effects on the original paint underneath that I could see. Which is great. Just thought id pass that along. . .it worked for me.

Either you were very conservative with the carb cleaner, or that carb cleaner was pretty WEAK stuff.

I have ACCIDENTLY shot carb cleaner onto the paint while cleaning the choke on a carburetor, and it seriously messed up the paint.

might be that eco safe non chlorinated stuff.

I sprayed some on a rag and used it that way. Its just the cheap stuff from wal mart that's mainly what I use. I wouldn't advise spraying it directly on the paint.

Mineral spirits works pretty good, and much less chance of doing damage.
