Nylon webbing to protect paint?

I need something to protect the paint on a Farmall M between the hood and tank and the hood and grill. I see Steiners has nylon webbing for this purpose. Has anyone used this and if so what do you use to attach it to the metal? Will some sort of adhesive or epoxy work? I would also be interested in any other methods you have used for this purpose besides the nylon webbing. I appreciate the help!

well, since you asked.... my opinion, you're over-thinking this. I refinished my 'H', and just sanded everything smooth and painted everything. It fits together fine, does not scratch. My opinion, some layer of nylon, fiberglass or weatherstriping will look very odd, might even trap water. .

on fords that need strapping or webbing pads under things like radiators. I have cut up retired ratchet straps that had frayed sections. I have don the same with old leather belts.. or craft leather in largier pieces ( boiled or tanned leather ). In emergency i have used inner tube as well. ;)

weatherstrip cement holds good but WILL lift paint if you remove it. also do not apply it to un-well cured or at least cured catylised paint.

I did that to my Super M and Super C, cut up a red new ratcheting tie down strap, used black weather-strip adhesive.
