I do not have a lot of painting experience. I have painted a few Cubs, Cadets, etc. I am now restoring a Farmall F12 and thought of going bc/cc. I am reconsidering and maybe wanting to go a good urethane paint, with the shiniest or highest gloss hardener I can get.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in Advance

The hardener in urethane is a chemical that is needed to harden, a lot like mixing epoxy. You mix in the correct amount.

The gloss is obtained by putting on ENOUGH paint, it must be at the point of running be be correct.

I think urethane is a little less forgiving than acrylic enamel and would think about that if you do not have experience.

Thanks for reply - when you say less forgiving - give me an example if you don't mind?

the tractors I have painted I have used enamel and clear -coated.

if high gloss is what you are after, use a glamour clear vs a regular production clear. ppg has d8152 glamour clear. i use rm dc92 here at the shop, but we shoot diamont. here is a link to d8152

you can get good results with just about any paint line. preparation and a good spray gun work wonders.

I have found that the urethane paint does not seem to cover as well if not put on thick enough. It is like you get a semi colored clear instead of a thin layer of color.

Glennster,

paint looks great! what should I use to final clean after I have wet-sanded primer, right before I shoot paint?
