What paint do you recommend?

I'm not doing a show tractor just finishing a promise I made to my late grandfather. We get the 41 b out a few times a year to putt putt around the yard and would put it in a parade or two if she was cleaned up. It is stored inside and does no work. I'm leaning toward the enamel at the Deere dealer but wanted your opinion.

I believe your choice would probably meet your stated requirements just fine and be easy on the bank acct. The definition of quality is conformance to requirements.

I am NOT an experienced painter. The last couple of tractors I did I used John Deere Classic green with the recommended hardener and was completely satisfied. The paint has held up well, no fading, and I found it easy for a low skill guy like me to use. The price is very reasonable. I have other tractors that have been painted by experienced guys with Imron and Base coat/clear coat paints. They are more durable, but a lot more expensive.

That paint will be fine over a 5 hour prep job. If you end up running into mission creep and the prep gets out to fifty hours use automotive paint.

i put clear over deere paint it works real good show quality finish just let it dry a little bit and shoot it on ,probably not the correct way to do it but works for me

ive been painting tractors for awhile now ive found that napas PCC [premium commercial coating]is cost effective and is a urethane base paint ive got tractors ive done 6 yrs now and there as glossy as the day I painted them, and is real easy to spray and had a good fill quality for hideing small pits

I would use Deere paint with hardener if I was doing one. I use NAPA urethane, but I think painting with urethane is a little less forgiving.

Make sure and get a breathing air kit for painting, your lungs will thank you.
