Good evening Folks
I am starting to work on an IH 1300 sickle mower. I want to touch up the original paint and paint the guards and grass board a safety color - possibly a high intensity Flo Yellow for safety.
First question is what rust reformers are you using. Many years ago I got a bottle at home depot and ran it through a hand sprayer. It was a clear liquid and seemed to work well on the dump cart I was repainting. Now all I can find the the Rustolium Reformer black stuff. I would like to treat assembled, then prime and paint the guards and grass board the safety colors. I do need to clean off the WD40 oil on the bar first - thoughts on this?
What can folks recommend as a start I would prefer not taking everything apart, but may do that for the guards (they are all in good shape).
Then there is the primer and paint - what brands of safety colors that are durable can you recommend. I plan on using a brush if possible as I don't have the fancy spray equipment. Does not need to be pretty, just as functional and durable as possible.
Any thoughts are appreciated - Thanks
