HVLP gun help please

A HVLP (high volume low pressure) takes a big compressor. If your compressor doesn't maintain at least 12 cubic ft. per minute, you have the wrong kind of gun.

If you hold the gun too far back from the surface some of the atomized droplets rejoin and get too big . Try holding the gun sideways and spray and look at where it is most atomized . Thats probably how far off the panel you want to spray.[I have a Harbor freight gun I paid 9 dollars for but I'm afarid to use it . I would switch to the gun you know sprays well]

your gun may have too small of a tip. dont know if you can get a larger tip for the hf gun, you may try thinning out the paint a little more on a test panel and see what happens.

Are you setting the air pressure at the max amount at the gun as stated on the gun or in the instructions?

Are you setting the pattern AND the fluid flow at their maximum settings? Do that and the air pressure as above and you don't need to make any further adjustments, it is NOT set up like a siphon gun. Also you need to move the gun slower than siphon.

Tempola,
I used that gun on my G pulling tractor and it turned out great. However I used John Deere Classic green and then napa thinner and hardner. I used 16 oz paint 3 oz hardener and 1 oz thinner. I watched the east wood video to set up my gun as it was my first time painting. I am really happy with it and will use it for my next one. I also used the cheap harbor freight compressor and never had issues.
