How much to charge for painting

Just delivered parts to a customer and I need to figure out how much to charge. I painted all the sheet metal off of a ford 600. Stripped, sanded, primed and sprayed single stage paint. Wet sanded and polished to a nice shine.

I"ve heard alot of prices for a whole tractor but not a decent estimate for just the sheet metal.

Customer was blown away by how the parts turned out but he is a friend and I want to do him right. Plus he sells alot of old tractors and always has more work for me.
 
For a buddy-$25 per hr plus materials. For a bussiness-$45 per hr and materials plus 20% mark-up. You need to start getting this in writing BEFORE starting a job no matter who it is or you will have trouble very soon. Just good bussiness practice and also the law if you are licensed at all.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I have worried about this because the customer is a good friend of the family and he does not sell the tractors for a ton of money. Just a retired guy trying to make a few bucks. I don't want the paint to cost him all of his profits.

I'll take the numbers you gave and try to come up with a good compromise.
 

Where are you located MonsterPT ? I just might have some work for you on the sheetmetal!! lol
