White International 385 - why

I have an International 385 that I have had for about 25 years. It has been a great tractor. I have worked it harder than it was ever meant to be. I recently bought a new tractor so I was cleaning up the 385 to sell it. When I was pressure washing it, I found that it was originally painted white. I talked to the person that had bought it new and they said it was painted red when they got it. Can anybody tell me why it was painted white originally?
Thanks for any info you can give me,
Tom

I have never seen a 385, but IH would paint any tractor whatever color the buyer wanted. Yours was probably sold to some company that wanted white equipment. I did see some white IH tractors several years ago owned by a highway construction company.

The only tractors painted white as demos at the factory were the Cub, C, and Super A painted in Jan, Feb, March 1950. Several other models were faked.
