Electrolysis Question

I've started using electrolysis setup for removing rust and old paint off of parts. Works great, but I'm wondering how long parts really need to be left in the tank. I normally put a part in the tank and it might be 3-5 days before I get time to mess with the part. I'm just wondering if a few hours is sufficient, so that I might be able to finish up a few parts during the weekend.

depends on too many different things.
Size of the part, number of anodes, amps being applied, how dirty or rusty the part is etc
Most of the things I have done have been pretty rusty and a good deal of old paint, I figure one 24-48 hrs per piece

I just started using this process, and have been monitoring the rust removal on various parts. Very light rust has been removed in as little as 6 hours, but the battery tray from my 641 took 48 hours with me removing it several times to wire brush off the scaly rust and paint.

From what I have read, as long as the current is flowing you really can't leave it in too long. Meaning once the rust is removed, leaving it in longer will not damage the part.

ditto what theothers said.

depends on strength of e-l and composition of it. space from work piece to anodes. size of piece. how dirty it is.... how many amps.

more anodes = better. also not a bad idea to clean the anodes and parts now and then.

large surface area anodes like metal grating work good..

avoid EL soloutions that will damage a part... like.. no baking soda.. only sodium carbonate..
