Somewhat OT - prevent oxidizing in paint

Question for yall and in particular folks that live in the snow country.

A friend has a jeep that has severe oxidation. It sits outside year round (no garage) and is up in snow country. Any tips on how to prevent it from oxidizing as fast as it does now? Should it be waxed monthly, car cover used or ?? Will probably get a repaint in the near future and doesn't want a repeat of what it looks like now.

Also, anybody undercoat their tractors or cars? What seems to work best in salty snowy conditions?

Thanks.

The oxidation is from letting the paint dry out and become porous. The salt used on highways can also contribute to the oxidation. To prevent this the paint would need to be cleaned and waxed regularly or clear coat polish if it is a two stage paint. A car cover would certainly help. Dependin on how bad the oxidation is now you might be able to compound the sheen back on the vehicle and wax it to pretty much stop the oxidation.

As far as undercoating, if I lived near the coast or where the highways were salted often in winter then I would probably have my vehicles undercoated. I live in the Dallas area so it's just wasted money.

What comes to mind, and I have no idea if it's true, is that high elevations / high altitudes might also have lots of UV solar radiation. Or other kinds of solar-radiation damage. Don't know, but a shed or car-port might be the best protection.
