Paint stripper and gaskets

I have just replaced most all the gaskets on the engine of my 460d Farmall while doing an engine repair.. I have been degreasing and cleaning all the parts as I reassemble the engine. The engine is all assembled now and I have some parts with faded paint, some parts with paint that looks new being that it spent the last 40+ years under grease, some bare cast spots on the block and a mostly bare aluminum valve cover. I am thinking about spraying the whole works down with paint stripper, then paint it all so it looks nice. My question is: Will the paint stripper eat away at my brand new gaskets?? Some of the new gaskets are cork, and some are felt, Also I used just a light coat of gasket sealer on some of the gaskets. Would paint stripper affect any of these??

I always use paint stripper and a hot water pressure washer to remove paint, grease and etc. I have never had a problem with it causing a problem with the gaskets in good condition. But, If you have some old, deteriorated gaskets and hit them directly with 3000 psi it will probably damage it.

A paint methylene chloride paint stripper won't affect the gaskets however a Citistrip remover may do a little damage to gaskets.

Keep in mind if you spray the remover the fumes are a carcinogen so try to stay upwind from it. Do only small areas at a time because the remover evaporates quickly.
