Black tire paint

Have any of you ever used the black tire paint that is out there? I bought some and I'm going to put it on all of my tires in the next few days, any tips or tricks to make the job easier and make the finished job look better? It is a water-based product that you dilute 50/50. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have used it several times over the years and it works good. As tires age they tend to turn gray and if used to plow with or etc the dirt will stain them. The tire paint will make them look like new again. The rear tires of the tractor below were old used U.S Royal tires that had faded and discolored, so I painted them as you described. They look nice and black now.

I will take before and after photos and report back on what I did and how I liked it. The stuff I bought was from Miller Tire Company. I figure I will try this first since the tires, especially the rears have like new tread on them but look old and light grey and have some weather checking, so hopefully this will make them look much better. It is a lot cheaper than getting a set of new tires all the way around.

I used it 5 or 6 years ago. It still looks good. It was easy to apply. If you can paint a tractor, you can use this stuff-no problem.

Black Tire Paint Update.
Well I finished applying the black tire paint, I will post before and after photos after I get my regular PC up and running but the bottom line is it is WELL WORTH the money. I used Miller Black Tire Paint from Miller Tire company. Just some things to note, as they say a little goes a long long way. It is super concentrated I mixed a small amount 50/50 with water stirred well and it covered all four tires on my Allis Chalmers B, with plenty of paint left over! The tires look great, nice even black, but not shiny. I Just wore thick rubber gloves and applied it with an old wash cloth and rubbed it in like I was staining wood. I gave each tire two coats and still have a lot left over. Now this stuff will not fill in or hide weather checking cracks, nor is it designed to do so. BUT it sure did make the rubber all dark and black and the tires look much mucn much newer. They already had deep tread and this was really worth the time and money spent. The product was something like $19.95 plus about $11.00 shipping so for around $30 bucks I made my tractor tires look like they are almost new. The only way you can tell they are not is the weather checking. It was easy to put on and I did the entire job (both coats) in an hour and a half.

yt sells the miller tire black and with the shipping of other items it was cheaper. bought a quart first time and burned thru that in one day! at least half went on a pair of grubbies i threw away and the area where painted looks like it was just paved. most of my tires have lots of cracking and so i try and get as much it the cracks as possible to keep out the rain and dirt on those fabric cords. i have since done several other sets with the gallon i bought and with thinning as directed and not being as sloppy i have hardly put a dent in the volume. i do every tractor and implement tire i have. (dozens still to go!) chuck
