ideas on what happend

Put a coat of paint on my tractor Friday afternoon then put a another coat on sat afternoon and some of the paint appears to let"s call it a crackling affect to it. What did I do wrong? Using case IH paint and thinner.

Sounds like the solvent in the paint is lifting off your first coat. You can't wait that long between the coats of paint. Probably 30-60 minutes is all depending on the type of thinner. After that you have to let it really dry good like several weeks with that machinery enamel.

You are supposed to leave only 10-20 minutes between coats depending on temperature. In other words put on the coats all at once. I haven't read the label on the quart or gallon of 2150, but the rattle can version says if you wait more than 30 minutes between the first and 2nd coat you have to wait 48 hours.

Well you'd have to either let it dry/cure real well which can take a while or strip it off. Those non hardened enamels takes some time to harden up but once it does you could sand it. I had this happen on a tractor fender one time when I watited too long... what mess I made. In that case I just removed the paint and started over as I wanted the tractor put together asap.

Option 1: Let it dry real good, sand and reshoot.
Option 2: strip and start over.
Option 3: Be upset with oneself and promise to read the instructions better. (has happened to many people including me. At least you learned from it).

I would probably tend to lean towards 1. It seems a little easier.

Let the paint dry for a couple of weeks and sand it smooth with 220 grit paper and spray another coat on. If it doesn't spray on as smooth as you like wait another week sand it again and spray it again. If you are in a hurry you could strip it down to bare metal, prime it and put all the coats of paint that you want on within an hour.
