I would like any info you have to help paint my 2N the orginial dark gray. What brand or type paint did you use? Thanks for your help.

I painted my 39 9n last year using Tractor Supply Massey Ferguson Gray it's pretty close to the right shade.From what I've seen most people us too light a grey. Tractor Supply has changed the brand of paint they carry and I haven't used any of it yet .It looked too dark when I first painted it but after seeing it outside parked next to some other restored early 9n's it looked pretty good.Most of my tractors are stored inside so the Valspar paint holds up pretty good.Just remember they were darker than most you see repainted today

I agree with FLoldford, that people tend to paint them too light. It seems like Ford changed shades of paint more than any other make, so you have to really be careful. I will suggest that you look at the insides of the panels for some original paint and take it to a real paint jobber and get it scanned. I don't think that most paint manufacturers are really as interested as you are in getting the right shade. As to the brand of paint, you will see alot of good information if you read down through this forum. A major consideration is how much prep are you going to do? If you are going to put five hours into prep go ahead and get the Tractor Supply paint. If you are going to put fifty hours into the prep get some good paint.

It all depends what kind of job you are looking for and the amount of time and money you want to put into the job. If you just want of make it the right color,this site sells the right color paint and the hardner from Tisco. I painted a 2n a couple of years back and it is the right color. It is regular enamel. I normally use PPG Omni on my own tractors, but what ever the customer is willing to pay for is what he gets.
