ppg paint codes

Does anyone happen to know the correct ppg code for the blue on Ford tractors used during the 70's and early 80's.I bought some paint today using a ppg code I found on the net(12908) and it seems way too dark and almost purple to me.Did I use the wrong code or is this correct for say the 5000,5600,8700,9700 series tractors?I am going back in the morning to let the guy scan a panel that is the right color to see if he can come up with something but it would be nice if I knew the correct code to tell him.

Here are PPG codes courtesy of Rod(NH). 12908 is listed--you should ask on the Ford forum, someone will know.

I would go with the scan. It appears to me that that is how the paint jobbers prefer to do it now. Codes are nice until there are 5 different ones.

Looks like they have 3 or 4 codes for JD Green guess you would have to flip a coin if you wanted that color.

I finally got the right color blue from PPG but it wasn't with a code or a panel scan alone.I took a panel with the correct shade this morning and he scaned it to try to match it.The scanner gave him a code that was by its rating supposed to be a perfect match but it was too light. The owner of the store came in and looked at it and he said"we can do better than that".He mixed another sample without the white and then started adding amounts of white back in until he made it a spot on match. He saved his formula and gave me a copy so the next time we can get it right the first time. This was a prime example of a businessman going beyond the call of duty to make me a satisfied customer and that he did.
