1955 farmall 300 paint scheme

OK, Can anyone tell me what is the correct paint scheme for a 1955 farmall 300? I've heard many comments on the 300 series, and how they are all red and the 50 series whith the white side and grille. Recently, a comment was made that the very early 300's were all red and that the later ones had the white trim. What is correct, and how do we know this? Incidently, when we bought this tractor for restoration, it did have white trim, but we assumed it was incorrect. Now, we are really uncertain.
Also, what color does the dash plate go?
Thanks
Larry

For those of us familiar with the 300 and 50 series it is common knowledge that the 300 and 400 were all red, The 350 and 450 were red and white. Some unsold 300/400's had the white added after the 350's and 450's came out, in order to match the 350 and 450. They did NOT come that way from the factory. Dash plate was grey, I don't know the code.

Mine is all red with silver rims on the rear and a black dash panel. Don"t know for sure if the colors are correct for the year, but it doesn"t seem to change the way it runs. JMHO

if u take the dash out and clean and wax the back side you can match the color when i did mine couldnt get the paint code for it had to mix it my self

I also will go along with CNKS and have done a lot of looking into the hundred series paint as I look for one to buy. It is similar to what happened with the 9N/2N tractors after the 8N came out. The all gray tractors looked a little plain next to the two tone 8N so a lot of dealerships painted their old inventory to match the newer tractor and a lot of 2N/9N tractors ended up red and gray.

Just for your information the 130/230/350/450/650 had a painted white grill but the hood sides were a white decal which still can be purchased. I think the IH dealers have the grey dash paint.
