I am restoring a 1945 McCormick-Deering model OS4 and am not sure of what red paint (part number) to use. Any help would be kindly appreciated. Thank you!

IH 50, no longer sold already mixed. Crosses to PPG 70093/DuPont 7410. These numbers can be crossed to any other major brand.

CNKS,

Thank you for your response. I also need some spray paint cans for the minor parts work. Do you happen to know what part number on YT that would be?

Thank you very much for your help!!

I don't know, but you can be sure it won't match IH 50. Best to use a spray gun. Other than the chassis and sheet metal I use a touch up gun for almost all the removable parts.

CNKS, please correct me if I'm wrong, but did you mean PPG 70019? Or did they change something?

Paint is something that needs forethought. Not all primers are compatible with the paint. I use Dupont/Nason single stage because it is common to my area, and I feel is better than a 2 stage base coat top coat. The red I use from Nason 9066 IB ,says on the can it is Volvo Red, so don't let the discriptions fool you.

That said please keep in mind IH bought paint from the lowest bidder and paint colors varied over the years.

Have fun, that is the most important thing.

I used PPG's Omni paint code 71310 on my tiller back in 2006. Still looks good. Hal

It's 70019, I have made that mistake before, don't know how 70093 stuck in my head, sorry.
