Removing paint

I was in northern tool today,and they were having a sale.i bought a needle scaler. How do they work for removing old scaly paint from the castings? Thanks in advance.

I have one and haven't had much success, perhaps I'm not using it right as it is hard to adjust. For me it is best for difficult nooks and crannies as it will damage the cast. I use a wire wheel on a angle grinder for most of it. I use the scaler so little that most of the time I forget I have it.

I've had pretty good luck using a polycarbide abrasive wheel for an angle grinder stripping paint.
