glennster 06-26-2012 05:58:30 75.63.53.143 Report to Moderator	Re: pickup truck paint job cost? in reply to GordoSD, 06-24-2012 05:49:35   some of the sealers i keep on hand here at the shop are rm ep 589, rm dp 31 2k sealer and rm ds 30 2k sealer. ds 30 is a good adhesion promoter over virgin plastics, and is a good topcoat to minimize sanding scratches. this occurrs when a car has been repaired at another shop, and it is pushed thru and too many corners are cut. or if it is something a weekend warrior attempted and needs to get straightened out. also our dp 25,26 27 2k powerfill primers can also be mixed as a wet-on wet (wow) sealers. ep 359 is a low voc epoxy wow sealer ep 589 is a chromated epoxy wow sealer, i have used this as a base primer on a farmall m that was sandblasted as the initial coat of material. ep689 is a chromate free wow sealer ep 789 is a black chromated primer that can also be a wow sealer. actual selection is based on individual prjects, and what material was previously applied. we are currently trying to correct previous attempts at a paint job on a 1936 buick for a customer. the gentleman is in his late "70s and has been working on the car. it has dulux enamel, nitrocellulose lacquer (duco), acrylic enamel (possibly centari), lacquer primer, and who knows what else. he is on a limited budget and we are fixing the areas that he messed with. we will end up base/clearing most of the car to get it in the ball park.
