jd 5020 hood repaint and waterborn primer

hi there i have a couple questions i painted a hood on a 5020 jd the tractor had a hole in the hood we fiberglassed it with fibrestrand and put glazing putty over that when we put the hood on some of the putty had a hairline crack so we sanded it bk down and painted it again it has a bunch of blisters in it from water or something i am sure what should i do now? it was suggested to wait a day wet sand it down and use a waterborn primer then sand and repaint ant suggestions?

i would be willing to guess the hood is not fiberglass but an smc compound. (sheet molded compound) it is similiar to the material used on the later model corvettes from 1984 on forward. there is an smc panel repair compound and smc filler that you will need to use to get good results. your local body shop supply will have it. remove the fiberglass compound that you applied. the expansion and contraction rates on the smc are different from fiberglass, it will continue to crack and loose bonding.

another problem with waterborne, you need a special gun to shoot it, de-ionized water (from the mfr) and a few other doo-dads.
