Hi Guys,
Novice painter here.Just painted the fenders on my tractor.Turned out pretty good except for a couple of runs.
Should I wet sand them. Will that leave the surface
rough enough for paint or primer to bond to.
Once I get that done should I cover it with just new paint or primer then paint.
Thanks in advance Gary Thompson

Gary,

I assume you are using single stage paint (with a hardener), if so, let it dry and sand the runs down. After that rough up the whole thing (scratch pad or rough sand paper) and reshoot. No need for more primer.

I just painted a tractor sheet metal and got a few little runs. I tried fixing one after about ten days of drying time. I took 320 sandpaper on a block and carefully sanded it almost down. Then I smoothed it with red rubbing compound and then polished it with white polishing compound. and it was invisible.

When your paint is dried, use a razor blade and scrape the top of the run off. If you try sanding, you will sand through all the paint and the run will still be there. You then can try wet sanding with fine paper and try to buff it out.
