504 farmall paint

Can anyone help me with the current paint codes for my 1964 504 Farmall? I need the white and red and is the T.S.C. paint close enough?

Red-IH 2150/PPG 71310/Dupont 96766. White--IH 901/PPG 8665/don't know DuPont. TSC is lousy paint. Use acrylic enamel as a minimum quality, urethane is better.

The TSC,TruValue,XOrust, and similar piants are junk. They turn pink in3-4 years, sooner if left outside.

When you guys say "TSC paint is junk" does that apply to all of it or only the cheap Valspar? How about the Valspar Restoration Series? I have also seen people say Valspar makes the 2150...wouldn't that likely be the same paint as the Restoration Series?

Valspar makes all kinds and qualities of paint. The local TSC does not sell the restoration series. If it is the same as 2150, the can should say "acrylic modified alkyd enamel". However, I am not sure that 2150 is still acrylic modified. The cans used to say that, but the quart can I have does not, it simply says "enamel". I use it only for touch up for nicks or to touch up bolts and nuts, etc that were damaged during installation. I have never used 2150 in a spray gun. JD cans, which also uses Valspar, far as I know, also say enamel. Personally, I am not going to buy anything from a farm store unless I know exactly what it is. Sorry I can't answer your question. As stated Valspar does have quality paint, I can't say if the restoration series fits that, I have a feeling that it doesn't and will stick with PPG.

I agree, I am probably going to use MS Crossfire on my WD-9. I have seen some shed kept JDs with Restoration Series and they look top notch. They also had PERFECT prep work done before hand.

I brushed (tried to spray, but it was junk) my manure spreader with Valspar cheap paint. It looks good enough for a manure spreader. I did the paint work just to keep the metal from rusting as fast and as a Valspar overhaul. I am going to post some pictures of it when done. I should have finished the project this weekend, but I guess there are two different sizes of 67(?) apron chain. There is a 67 and 67XH that is thicker, but the same size links. All I can find hanging on the local farmers shop walls is the XH and I need the plain old 67.
