Hi All, I have been pricing paints that are recommended on this forum.
According to my sources here, omni and nason require hardners.
I have been told that there is no single stage urethane that
does not require a hardener. I am now more confused than
normal.
Thanks, Bob 46A.

All single stage urethane paints require hardener. The base coat in base clear paints does not contain hardener, but is worthless without the hardened clear. PPG Omni and DuPont Nason and others also come in acrylic enamel which can be used with or without hardener.

For the Dupont line, I think it was called a Nason fast dry implement paint (if i recall correctly). I bought some, but I didn't think it looked the same as the single or 2 stage automotive paint color. If you are matching paint, you may want to look into that. If not, then it's probably not as big of a concern.

This is it what happens when I try to learn something new and
complex without using a chart. I had thought that Nason and
omni were urethane type paints only.

My favorite supplier (where I have credit) has Sherwin-Williams
paints only. Is their acrylic enamel good?

Thank You, Bob 46 A

PPG and Dupont make about everything with the possible exception of alkyd enamel. Probably you thought that because most of us that have been here for several years when mentioning PPG or Dupont mostly talk about urethane, with little mention of the other products.

I think Sherwin Williams acrylic enamel is as good as most any other.
