restoring to original

restoring a Super W-4, 1953, can anyone tell me if the rad hoses & clamps were painted the IH red or were they left neutral.
Thanks in advance, appreciate if anyone knows.

They were painted with the rest of the tractor, IMO they look much better not painted as the paint chips off. No one cares about those "details" except the correct police. So, I only paint metal.

I agree. From the factory EVERYTHING was painted red. It looks pretty bad IMO. If you get RPM they had an article on this topic this month. Also Guy Fay's "Originality Guide - Farmall Letter Series Tractors" is your how to when painting a tractor.

BTW, if you don't use old style Wittek clamps nobody really cares if you painted them properly ;)

I do not like the Whittek clamps at all, mine has the stainless aviation worm clamps

I guess you didn't restore to original then! I will let it slide this time. What is the difference between aviation worm clamps and regular stainless hose clamps? My favorite clamps are the ones we used to clamp fertilizer hoses. You used a 7/16" socket to clamp them.
