John Deere 40T lettering

Does anyone know why the "JOHN DEERE" on the sides of the hood and above the radiator look like they are faded to a white color and the "40" on the sides of the nose look like a faded yellow. All of the restorations that I have seen are yellow "JOHN DEERE" letters.

dont know about the 40's but the 20 and 30 series original yellow on the sheet metal were decals that faded to white after extended exposure to the sun,I guess the same could apply to your 40 decals. Bill

Thanks Bill. I guess I'll restore back to yellow. I was thinking they were silk screened on back then. Maybe they used different paint on the "40" then on the "JOHN DEERE".
