Pressure washer

I Need to pressure wash a 1970 IH 3444 utility tractor before i sand blast it,so I can repaint it. All i have is a standard 5hp. gas pressure washer, and there isn"t a steam jenny withing 150 miles of here. Does anybody know if it will hurt the seals on the pressure washer if i send boiling hot water thru it? Thanks, Tom

Whoops, you said the seals in the pressure washer, not the tractor--sorry. But, never sandblast an intact tractor.

If your owners manual doesn't say you can use hot water, I don't think I would try it. I think I would wash the tractor like everybody else with engine degreaser and oven cleaner rather than maybe ruining your power washer.

I don't have a manual for the pressure washer, I'm at a dilema if I can't use hot water. My Farm Is certified organic, and I can't risk the chemicals going on the ground. I guess I'm going to haul the damn thing somewheres to clean it. I have to take it to a neighbors barn to sand blast it. It is a Ih 3444 Yellow utility tractor/loader that someone painted over it with Farmall Red paint and didn't prep it good and it is chipping and peeling like a scalded pig at a Bar-B-Que now. Thanks Fellas..Tom

Most 'cold' water pressure washers will take 150 deg water without a problem. Get the make/model of the pump and look it up online to be sure.

My pressure washer manual says Do Not use hot water. Last summer the temp was over 112* & garden hose laying in the sun , hooked it up, started the washer , no pres. Hot water was comming out of a relief valve , As soon as hot hose water was gone , the pres. came back with cold water. No idea how this works. clint
