I just wanted to thank B-maniac, CNKS, SWMO and Gordo SD for the advise on my painting problems.
I made some changes, added a loop of hose on floor for now,and now the separator seems to be working a lot better. I had one of those light bulb moments when I started using die grinder with wire wheel, previously would get a little moisture out of the tool, but not now, nothing, DUH, I said to myself, this has to be the problem with the paint gun. Oh well, live and learn. I guess the old adage of “If you aren’t learning anything, you must not be doing anything “ is true. I still have a lot to learn, still have a lot to do on this tractor. Thanks again
Tom

Glad it's better, but that separator has to release ZERO water or you will have problems. Also, it should have an open/close valve on the bottom, drain it after each session, also your compressor.

I have not painted yet, I do have a drain on the compressor and first separator, ( drain every time I start working with air tools) always seem to get some moisture. I plan to add a second separator right before the deticated air hose for my paint gun.
This separator will still be 50 ft (the length of the hose) from that last separator. Should I move that separator closer to the gun itself, and just use a shorter hose (15 to 20 Ft) between separator and gun?

I don't know the minimum distance, but 2 seperators 50 feet apart should do it. I have heard of one guy who curled the hose up in a tub of water. Also, you mentioned power tools. If you added oil to the line, don't use that hose. I assume that you added the oil to the tool itself so that there is no oil contamination. Still not sure where the fish eyes came from. I repainted the torque tube/clutch housing of my C last Friday when I had it off to replace the transmission seals. I drained the trans oil into a tub under the rear end of the tractor, then found my front and rear jack stands prevented me from removing it. Not silicon, but my exhaust fans pulled air right over that tub -- no problems.

There's also an old adage " learn from the mistakes of others because you can't live long enough to make them all yourself" None of us were born with the knowlege we have. We've all made more mistakes than we will ever admit! Hope we can continue to help you out along the way. RB

TJ, just had a brain fart, about fish eye problems. You can also get these little fellows from not wiping your final clear or prep-sol down correctly. wipe on wipe off. If you missed a spot of cleaner by not wiping it completely dry it can appear as a fish eye problem when a top coat is applied
