Omni AE acrylic enamel question.

I will be painting a garden tractor within the next few weeks. I found some Omni AE acrylic enamel. What can I expect for durability if it's left inside? What do I need with it? I plan on using epoxy primer. Will I need clearcoat? Will this paint hold up on vintage metal lawn chairs? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Gerard

Should look better than when new and last a long time. I used their Omni single stage on a tiller with hardener back in 2006. I painted the garden tractor last May with Dupont's Centari acrylic enamel on the light cream and New Holland's acrylic enamel blue. I used an epoxy primer and Dupont's surfacer over the primer. Didn't use hardener in any of the paint. Hal
PS: I was ASE certified until 2000.

Yes, it will hold up quite well. Hardener and clear coat would be up to you as it is not all that necessary, but hardener makes the finish harder and more durable. Clear also helps to protect your final finish and gives it more depth.

It's a little too wet to plow and more precip coming in Wed thru Friday with heavy rain and may turn to snow on Firday. New England may get hit again with snow. It will be awhile before I do any plowing. I did start my tomato plants yesterday. The rhubarb is peaking through the ground too. Hal

I found some for $34.00 per gallon. This seems way too cheap for me. Any ideas why it's so cheap? Should I avoid it? Gerard
Hey Hal, Did you retire and let your certifications expire?

I retired and never renewed them. PPG has quit selling acrylic enamel probably 5 years ago here in my area. That's probably what it sold for about 30 years ago. I would get that paint shaken so it's mixed well. Hal

I would for sure catalise it. It will last longer I dont use Omni very much, but it works good for what it is. You should look and see if you can get it in a urethane, but if you want to go cheap what you have is it.

I plowed 1/2 of the garden today since it was dry enough. I'll do the other half when it quits raining for awhile. Didn't make any video. It was in strawberries and hadn't been plowed in 3 years. Had a lot of tree roots to plow out. I tilled it with my tiller too. Hal
