Allis-Chalmers H3 hood nameplate needed - Does anyone know which other Allis-Chalmers tractors use the same nameplate? It is a very nice nameplate attached with rivets. Thank you!

That's great news!!! I'm in Southwest Virginia between Roanoke and Lynchburg. Where are you?

(quoted from post at 09:55:04 10/27/10) I am in Michigan, north of Battle Creek

Would you be able to mail them? Is there some box they might fit in? I can send up a check or money order. The nameplates have the four holes for the rivets? Black letters with the cream background? Somehow we can figure out how to get them here. Thanks! I'll keep thinking about how to do this. I'm trying to think of what would come in a box shaped like the nameplates. Maybe there's an old box somewhere. I get boxes at my local farm supply.

I am recovering from a broken hip and also I am close to 70,I dont get around real quick yet but am healing great,I will go out later and check the holes and take a picture of them,Somehow we can get them sent,The post office has some sort of boxes as I remember. My email is open

I took a picture, they arent perfect by any means,They sure dont go on a WD,

That's them alright! Yahooo. I went to the Post Office. I'm not sure this will work but maybe. They have a 36" long 3" tube. It can be sent COD. Postage can be included. Maybe something else too. You will have to pay but then I pay when I get it and you get reimbursed. I'm not sure the nameplates will fit though. I don't know how large they are. You're right, they don't look correct on the WD--that's for sure! I like those WDs! Is that a loader on there?

Thats a loader on it that my brother in law bought with his Allis in 1951. He had a barn fire that destroyed 17 tractors, one,a JD 40T was mine.He gave me the loader and I cleaned it up,polished the cylinders and put in new seals and have a snow plow.I have new tires all the way around and the rear are loaded and so far havent had to use chains,I plow on snow covered ice and have no problem. I will go out and measure the nameplate for you tomorrow,it took quite a bit to get out there and found out I forgot a tape, sorry

WOW!!! Does that sound like a heart breaking fire! Oh my gosh. Sounds like you have a nice WD though. I bet you will be doing more snowplowing very soon. It sure is nice to have good tires!

I'm hopeing the Dr will say I can drive my Allis,I did drive my Fergie but thats a easy on tractor, and easy clutch.I will measure the nameplate as soon as it gets light out

The name plates measure 3 X 29. The barn fire was heart breaking. The barn was over 100 yrs old and kind of a landmark around here,he kept it up so it looked great, pretty good sized to. He had a old hay loader in the top,no hay since he had quite farming when he got to be 65 yrs old, In the bottom he had a couple of GPs,a 15-30 International,a f12,a f14,2 alis's,a JD 60,my 40 and I think a D that didnt run, none of the old tractors were restored .I helped put them in but really didnt pay a lot of attention to what they were. He still has probably 10 JDs left that were in another barn. He has a 25 spoker that his Dad bought, another styled D,a couple unstyled A's and AO.a 50,620,630 and a 49 R,cant remember what else else,

That sounds like he still has a great collection of John Deeres!!! I would love to see those. Besides my AC H3 and HD4 I have a Farmall A and an Allis B. I'd really like to have another. I may be a little low on space and money though. Sooner or later! So it sounds like the nameplates will fit in the Post Office tube. Would you want to send them COD? What would work for you? Please let me know what you think. Thanks!!!

I have never sent anything COD before, how do I go about it? It may be a few days before I can get them off the tractor,I am slowed down somewhat right now.Maybe I can just send them to you and then you tell me what they are worth? I have no idea. My email is open

I think you just fill out a COD form at the Post Office. They told me you have to pay for the mailing tube and the postage. Then when I get the package I pay them and they reimburse you. It sounds good that I can see them then send you a check for them. It will be nice to have the nameplates. Are they attached to your tractor with screws? Originally they were riveted on. I imagine they will be easier to remove if they are screws. Thanks again!

I was just thinking that maybe you could just wrap the nameplates in layers of wrapping paper? Or maybe two pieces of cardboard taped together? I'm not sure what would be easier for you. Plus I am wondering if the shipping tubes are 3" inside or outside dimension. What did you mean by your e-mail is open? Am I doing this the right way?

I will get them off next week,You need to email me your address, yes they are bolted on,shouldnt be to hard to get off, maybe a gas axe?? lol
