Painting aluminum..

Hey everyone..I have a little project that involves painting a large aluminum dish. What I'm wondering is what it's going to take to keep the paint sticking to the aluminum. Does the metal need to be roughed up somehow? I appreciate all the help!

Use PPG DX533 Aluminum Cleaner, applied as noted on the tech sheet using a Scotch-Brite hand pad. Follow up with PPG DX503 (or DX501) Aluminum Conditioner. Then apply epoxy primer followed by the topcoat of your choice. The tech sheet for the DX products is here.

(quoted from post at 17:30:42 06/18/10) I think the Air Force used zinc chromate over aluminum after cleaning the surface. Hal
Once again, I'm hijacking a post to make contact with El Toro. sorry about that if it's uncool but don't know any other way to do it. You posted a parts breakdown for me, thanks, for a Gilson mower deck which I appreciate very much. I have another request, if it's possible to get the text page that go with it...telling what the numbers represent. So far, yours is the closest thing to help I've found in much searching, even though it's not quite the same model. Incidentally, I do have an email listing if that would work [email protected]
