Howdy,Restoring a Ford 8n and looking for suggestions on a good product to finish the manifold.
Thanks,Dave

do you mean paint it? I have liked the manifold paint that I got from the local auto parts store. It is a high temp and when sprayed on it looks like cast looks after being sandblasted. It really looks good.

Hi David;

I may be mistaken but the manifold was painted with the rest of the engine, so it would have been red. If you don't care about the "original" look. There is a product called Cast Blast that comes in a high temp paint. The picture is what it looks like on my 850. The second picture is with the manifold painted red and black. Cast Blast can be bought on line. Can't recall the name of the company. I'll try to find and post for you.

I sandblast them. Then do a lot of polishing with a 40 grit flap wheel on a 4 inch grinder.Then go to the "cast Blast hi temp.

Hi GlenIdaho, thats a nice looking manifold and tractor, whats the deal with the spacer between the carb and intake or is that normal on that model?

Hi John;

Thanks. I cleaned up, sealed it, primered with epoxy and the hit it with PPG's Omni Acrylic Urethane. It will stand up to any fuel spilling on it.

Thanks. My original manifold cracked and then broke in two pieces, I bought an aftermarket manifold and when I assembled it the choke rod would not function properly. Another contributor, Bradbb, had the same problem and discovered the manifold's measurements were not as the original. He designed and had several of the spacers made. It solved the problem with the choke rod alignment. I'll probably try and find an original manifold one of these days and make the change.
