sprayed the tank last night and turned out awesome. however....the top the tank has some spots where it looks kinda funky. can I buff it out and respray? I"m not going for state of the art finish, but since this is a part that is seen alot I"d like to straighten it out. I"m using enamal paint since I"m a bit of a cheapo and it is more forgiving

It depends on exactly what products you used as to what repair opportunities may exist. Can you be more specific and name the manufacturer and product numbers/designations as well as any additives used?

valspar enamal...no additives...its an 800.00 tractor that I am painting just for the hell of it. like I said...no show room finish here, just want it to be red. I scrubbed the tank with a good cleaner before I sprayed it and everything else looks good. spots around the top have a sort of runny appearance to them. set up nice so thats why I ask if I can buff it down a little to smooth it out and spray again. again...I am not trying to achieve a flawless finish. its a work tractor that I paid 800.00 for. massey 44d to be presise.

you dont want to use a buffer on the valspar, its going to be soft for quite a while. use some 400 grit wetsand paper and a bucket of hot water with car wash soap in it. gently wetsand the runs out smooth, then scuff up the rest of the tank and re-shoot it..

Beware, Recoating alkyd a day or two after painting might crinkle. Paint has a window where you can't repaint. Alkyd enamal can be months. Let it harden in the sun for a couple weeks then try. Sorry
