Painting my M37 truck, with cheapy Valspar Green Glossy Enamel, could not find anyone around here to mix me a flat, or semi gloss Green, so how do I flatten it? All of my years of painting has been to make it glossy and shiny, not to make it dull.

I"m sure that brand will have a flattener available. I use PPG products. I use PPG DX685 flattener to flatten single stage urethane 80 degree or 60 degree or 30 degree or flat. If you cannot find a product in Valspar, you could always experiment with my flattener.

Any auto parts store that mixes any brand paint, has an ingredient called flatening agent. It's a white paste or liquid. The more you add, the flatter it will make the paint. It don't take much.It won't be flat until it dries. It's still shiny right when you spray it,so give it a chance.Good Luck. (ask, but I believe it's a pretty generic product that will work in any paint)

An idea that I did by accident. I had been using PPG Omni MP 182 surfacer, and was ready to topcoat. Automatically reached for the can I had been using that was surfacer hardener. Luckily I only painted the underside of my hood before I realized my mistake. It is shiny, but not to the extent of the MTK with topcoat hardener -- worth a try? There are "flatteners" available. or so I have heard, I know nothing about them.
