HELP!....I HAVE STUMBLED ON A LONG 445 ROMANIAN MADE TRACTOR I WOULD GUESS IT TO BE A 80's ERA TRACTOR,IT HAS GEAR DRIVEN P.S. AND HYDRAULIC PUMPS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE. THE OWNER SAY'S IT IT'S HARD TO START AND SMOKES FOR A FEW MINUTES BUT THEN IT CLEANS OUT AND IS EASY STARTING THE REST OF THE DAY. I WONDER IF THIS TRACTOR HAS A FUEL HEATING OR GLOW PLUG DEVICE THAT COULD BE FAULTY?THE TRACTOR IS 3000.00 DOLLARS.DO ANY YOU LONG TRACTOR OWNERS HAVE ANY ADVICE? I PLAN ON USING THIS TRACTOR FOR HOME USE, BOX BLADING,BRUSH HOGGING, IT MAY SEE 25 HOURS A MONTH.ARE ALL PARTS EASY TO GET OR IS THIS LIKE MY LAST TRACTOR A 130 MASSEY I ENDED UP GIVING AWAY TO BE A PARTS DONOR TO KEEP 2 OTHERS ALIVE? ANY INFORMATION WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Hello Richard, I purchased a 445 Long last fall for $1600 with a Du-al loader. It was in fair condition, had alot of nail, wire and other misc items holding it together. The wiring was burned up and none of the idot lights worked.Have been working on it off and on this past winter. Yes there is a glow plug in the intake manifold and it is $65 from the dealer.I'am lucky that I have dealer only 2 miles from the house. Geensee has a repair manual for it accually a manual for the 360, the dealer informed me that the 445 and the 360 are the same. Repair manual from the dealer is about $200. The tractor seems to be well made, it has power steering, live pto and ground speed pto ( two pto modes). Biggest draw backs are everything is metric except the three point and the parts are costly ie: top link pin is $25. Regular Ford $2 to $3. I should have it up and running in a couple of weeks. The alternator is bad and I am changing over to a GM 10-SI. Let me know what you decide. I live in SW MO. and a fairly decent Ford goes for about $3000 at auction. Good Luck.

The Ford thermostart will not fit the Long manifold. The thread pitch/size is different. You are on the right track. After the tractor sits overnight take the air cleaner hose off and look in the manifold. It should be dry inside. If not, the heater is leaking. I am a Long dealer. Email me if you need parts.

We don't know if the 445 is the same as the 310 as far as the hydraulics are concerned but when our 310 gets jerky we found that the hydraulic filter located just under the floor board on the right side should be a tube about 6 inches long and 1.5 inches in dia. with a two bolt flange, remove the end cap and pull out the filter, wash and replace. might help????

Nebraska tested one of these in 1972. This tractor probably was made 1977 or earlier. Many of the parts from today's Long will fit. These have a reputation for short clutch plate life. If everything works OK, the price of $3000.00 is better than usually available in my area. The starting aid probably is a heater in the intake manifold. Look for a device with small rubber fuel hose and electrical connection attached. I am told that Ford starting aids will fit many of the Long UTB tractors. Many of the fuel injection parts can be purchased at Ford or Massey dealerships for the CAV brand.
