just bought a 1974 long 350. I am changing all of the fluids and filters. As I was draining the transmission fluid I notice two pins that look like cotter pins hanging down from two holes in the housing, One is dripping fluid the other is not. What is the purpose of these pins and can I plug the holes?

Those are drain holes for the brake compartments. The cotter pins will move around keeping hole open. The oil you see is from a leaking seal. Do not close off hole.

Thanks for the info. Guess I need to fix that seal.
