560 Long 3 point bleeds down

Hello, My grandpa has a 560 long I believe it is a 1979 if that makes any difference at all. The issue is after the tractor has been run for a little while and everything warms up the lift arms bleed down and won`t support any real weight. the first thing his tractor repair man sold him was a pump then a relief valve but the problem is still there. I don`t mind tearing into it and replacing what it needs but I hate to see him waste more money on parts that it doesn`t . Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks,

Elliot.

Check the hydraulic fluid level. Does is have proper hydraulic oil? UTF or 30 wt.non-
detergent oil is fine. Also check the hydraulic filter in the line and located below the
starter to see if it is clogged. If all that is good my mechanical guess would be that the
o-ring on the main lift piston needs to be replaced.

Does it leak down an inch or so then jump back up. If not the linkage is not properly adjusted assuming the control is in position control. If the sensitivity is set too high it will cause this. My 460 will hold up for days. Once the arms are up, a poppet type valve traps the oil in the cylinder. The sensitivity control adjusts the leak down rate and if set too close will allow some leakage, but if the arms leak down the control should pick it back up.
