have researched this forum and found some great information, but I am in need of some quick information. I have located questions Power king tractors that are both about 4 hours from me. One is a 2418, man stated bought to restore 6 months ago and bought a older truck instead. Knew nothing else about tractor. The other is a 1614, son said father bought new amd has been sitting awhile but runs great. Both comesides with similar attachments, but only the 1614 has the belly mower. I wish to maintain 5 acreage of thick, heavy grass no hills in the south, while using the push blade to move burn piles and planting a small garden. I have read that the Koyler 18hp had problems and no new parts are being made. My question is this, is the 24 make a significant hight difference for my chores and will the 14hp be strong enough for my chores. Also note that the 2418 has dual transmissions. They both would cost me around $2000. Any insight would be greatly appreciated

Hi jgbaxley, I would go for the 1614, the 14 hp Kohler (K321) is a bullet proof engine and there are lots of parts available vs the K361 18 hp OHV engine very few parts they have been known to drop valve seats most good engine machine shop's can repair but can be expensive NO NEW heads. while the 24 will have more ground clearance its not enough to out weigh the K361 18 hp engine and you posted the 1614 has a deck and you want to mow with it that is worth $300.00 to $400.00 plus 16 inch tires are less expensive and if you wanted turf type tire 16: pickup tires will work.

Good luck with your search they are great tractors I have 2 a 1976 1614 and the other is a 1984 1618, I have 2 decks but only use the 1614 to mow with the 48" deck mows very nice and can handle lots of grass and the front dozer blade works good.
