I have a lonng 460 wirh a cav pump. I had 3 leaks on the pump. Pulled the pump and resealed. I still have one leak remaining. Its at a fitting on the bottom left (looking from the seat). I dont know what this fitting is, ive googled the mess out of it. It looks like some kind of drain or relief valve. The shutdown lever rod has a loop in it, and the valve is inside the loop. I need to know what it is to replace or repair it.[/img]

That's the advance lockout valve for no advance cold starts, the stop rod is pushed forward, causing the rod to deflect and seal the lockout ball so the advance stays retarded. I always reseal that valve too whenever I repair the injection pump. Maybe some places don't..

Can i get rid of it? All the pics ive seen of the cav pupmps dont have this valve. Its leaking around the shaft of the valve and i cant move the rod by hand.

Why buy another head locating bolt when yours can be fixed? By the looks in the pic pump is about do for a complete reseal anyway. If the top cover has been resealed only then it won't be long before other leaks start. Been repairing injection pumps forty years, minor repairs I've found never last long where leaks are concerned.

I cant find anything on a advanced lock out valve or head locating bolt. Im not sure what it does or how it works, i just know it still leaks.
