Belarus 250 AS Injector Pump Leak

Just bought an original shed kept Belarus 250 AS tractor this past weekend that had been sitting for 10 years or so. The tractor was bought new and has 158 original hours on it. Brought it home and got it running within about 10 minutes. Runs well, however the injector pump was leaking fuel on the very top. Wish I had a picture. What would cause this?

It also has a severe oil leak under the dash panel but I found out that the oil pressure guage uses a rubber hose so that should be an easy fix!

(quoted from post at 00:47:04 02/26/16) Probably because she had been stood so long the gasket had dried out completely.

But which gasket? The leak is right on the top in the middle from what I can remember. Again, wish I had a picture of it.

Here is a picture of my pump.....

One reason they leak is the crankcase of the pump fills with fuel from internal leakage,normal..Every now and then, forget how many hours, you have to drain the pump cavity, and add motor oil to a certain level. You add it from the top,and there is a level plug you take out,and add oil till it runs out the hole.Doesn't take a lot.

Just saw this reply. Can you provide more info as to how and where to drain it and fill it with oil?

OK,If you clean the pump off with degreaser, you should see dabs of white paint on service points. On the bottom of the injection pump there is a drain plug, take it out and drain everything,it will be mostly fuel.Don't worry no bleeding or any thing is necessary.Up slightly from the bottom of the pump, facing out is a level plug, should be the same size plug as the bottom plug was, take that out, that is your oil level hole.Add motor oil to the top of the pump through the cap where your complaining about leaking.Might have to use a squirt can.Add oil till it runs out the level hole, put your plugs back in and your done. These pumps leak internally, just the nature of less than stellar maching.I forget the service time on this, but check it whenever you change the oil.

Thanks for the response. I did figure it out and filled it with oil through the level plug with a squirt can til it ran out. Put the plugs back in and she runs good with no leaking! It was FULL of fuel when I pulled both plugs and drained it.

I'm thinking about doing something like blue paint or something on all the service points like this myself for the next owner. These things require little oddball maintenance and the average person wouldn't know what to do. That YOUTUBE video is very helpful too!

All I need now is to get the dang alternator charging (or a new ammeter) and get a headlight for it, and a taillight lens, then she'll be "perfect".
