Yesterday I attended a farm retirement sale south of St Joseph,MO and was fortunate to be high bidder on the top picture Wards ER #1954...It wasn't running at the sale...Its far from perfect but the last time I attended a farm sale with a Wards on it was back in 1969....At that sale near DeSoto,KS I bought a running HR with a 2 row cultivator for around $300..

While at the sale yesterday I was visiting with a nice gentleman that owned Wards HR-#1839....After the sale I followed him 15 miles to his place and heres a picture of his nice tractor with the wide front...

The bottom pictures show the fantastic views from where the farm sale was held....You can see in to Kansas..

The tractor you got is a nice looking tractor with what looks to be very good sheet metal. The rear tires on it look like Wards tires. I have a set like that on my F-20. It looked like it was a nice day for a sale.

Hi thanks for posting nice pictures and nice tractor you got, looks to be in fairly good condition, what engine did they have?
GB in MN

The ER Wards tractors had 250 CID Chrysler 6 cylinder engines and the HR Wards tractors had 230 CID
Chrysler 6 cylinder engines...

Those are 12 x 38 Wards Power-Trac rear tires and they hook up great on a pulling track..They are pretty weather checked...Over the years I've had lots of Wards tires but good ones are now few and far between..I used to pull a 1938 UTS MM and it had 15 x 32 Wards tires that pulled great.

The hood on the Wards has been patched...The word is this tractor was once owned by the Cole family at Gallatin,MO....Years ago they were well known for their 4500-5000 lb Wards SS pulling tractors..

It was a little chilly at 9:30 AM when the sale started but it was a pretty nice day as it progressed...The north wind was blowing pretty good at times..It finally got up to 60..

Yes,eventually I'd like to restore it as original as possible.....It will be hard to do as the original hydraulic oil tank and pump are missing.....The pipe from the carburetor to the air cleaner is gone..The exhaust manifold isn't original....These parts are almost impossible to find...

For now I'll just get it running and show and pull it a few times..This is the 4th Wards tractor I've owned..The first one I bought back in 1969 is just 5 miles away and owned by a friend....Another that I owned was the 1969 M&W 5000 class pull winner at LaPlata,MO...I had it from 1971-83 and its back in Illinois with the guy I bought it from restored back to the way it was in 1969 when he won the M&W pull..Another is here in MO in original condition..

1206SWMO. Thanks for the pictures. I have been looking for a Wards and curious how much you paid. I can't find out what they are worth. No problem with the manifold, they are available. Looking forward to your reply.

These two Wards tractors were recently for sale right here on ytmag in the photo ads..

1-HR in Oregon needing restoration for $1,250 which was a bargain...It was too far away for me..

2-HR in Iowa with excellent restoration for $14,000...I think it sold..

3-From original Wards sales literature which I own...

4-Pulling ad from 1951 which I have..

The value of all Wards tractors is somewhere in between these two prices I listed........Over the years several nicely restored ones have sold at auction for $9,000 to $11,000...

Several Wards guys at the sale said that you can't get a reproduction manifold for a ER Wards because it has the 250 Chrysler which is 2" longer than a 230...

I emailed you....

These tractors were marketed in Canada in the east as Rockol and the west as Regal. They were an ultimate racing machine. Have heard of guys getting speeding tickets with them!

molinegb I had never heard of the Regal! What color was it? Did it have the same engine and components as the Wards. Thanks for any information you can give.

Harry Lowther Custom Co. made the Wards,Rockol 98,Regal,Norseman. Supposedly the Norseman and Regal were marketed through Chrysler/Dodge truck dealerships. I believe they all were red in color.
