Kubota 5500dt 4-wheel drive issue?

Looking for some feedback on how I should go about this 4WD issue. So it's a Kubota 5500DT. I bought it about 3 yrs. ago not realizeing the 4wd didn't work.
I can push the 4wd lever forward to engage it. I can get the lever to grind if I don't do it correctly, which probably is a good sign. It will go in the correct position withought making any funny noises as well. Once in I don't hear any funny noise at all while driving either. The only thing I notice is no 4wd traction.
The fluids are good. I believe its internal. Looking to do some process of elimination. I think the enclosed driveline would make noise if that were the problem? Thanks.

With the engine not running and in gear, Jack up one front wheel at a time. If you can turn the wheel easily, you may have a broken outboard
axle.
That happened on my Kubota.

I'm getting a clicking noise with no driveline movement inside this unit following your steps. Is this the outboard axle?

That would be my guess. You will need to pull that side off and have a look to find out.
If my memory is rite, the axle has a spline on each end. Mine was an easy fix.

Do you remember pulling the front axle away from the tractor to make the fix?
