Worthington Red Seal D6

This is the latest acquisition. It is a Worthington Red Seal D6 dump from 1959-1960. Pretty rusty and the engine is stuck but it seems to be complete. I'm going to soak the engine in some ATF for a while before trying to turn it with a little more force. No vertical exhaust so I'm hoping its only 'lightly' stuck. Looking at the serial number listing it appears they only made 120 of these.

I am in no way an expert on Worthington tractors, but I believe your tractor is quite a bit older than that. It looks
like a flat head, if I am not mistaken. Also, Worthington Tractor Corp sold out to Jacobsen in the early fifties. The last of the G-2 series tractors made in Stroudsburg, Pa used Ford engines of the same style as the 172 C.I. OHV, but I think they were 134 C.I. OHV.
Lastly, I am not familiar with the "D" series. Everything that I ever saw was a "G" series. Maybe someone can correct me if this is wrong.

Did that come out of N.H.?

The engine is a Continental F162. These engines where used by several tractor makers in the 50s and also forklifts and welders into the 60s. I have the serial number listings and they produced the D6 from 1956 through 1961. The 'D6' is a modification of the G6 Red Seal Worthington which was produced during the same years. 'D' indicates it is a Dump body.

The first 'G' model used the Ford 8N engine and hood and was produced from 1949 through 1952. The G2, G4, and G5 models used the Ford 134 OHV engine and hoods from the Jubilee and 600 series and where produced from 1953 through 1955. There was a G8 model that used the Ford 172ci OHV engine and what looks like a stationary power plant type hood from 1959-1961.

This one came out of Pennsylvania. Have you seen one of these in New Hampshire?
