Long 510 with broken piston shaft

I have an issue with a Long 510 tractor that ran out of oil due to a leak over the winter and locked up the motor when taking it out of the barn for the first time this year. I definitely learned my lesson there. Either way, I ended pulling the oil pan off and one of the piston shaft had completely broken off.

I wanted to see what you all thought about the cost that might be involved to get the piston shaft fixed and if there could be other things related to a piston shaft breaking.

Any help would be appreciated. I am assuming that the motor would have to be taken apart completely to repair the broke piston shaft.

Thanks.

I this what you're calling the piston shaft? If's called a connecting rod. You probably need to take the engine to an auto machine shop that rebuilds engines.Hal

Running without oil screws up a whole lot of things in an engine crank, cam, cam bearings and on and on.Check out Import Tractor you can get a new short block from them for around
$3000 you'll easily sink that much into to yours most likely.

Yeah, that is what I was referring too. I wasn't sure of the exact name.

Thanks for all the replies.
