What system was used on the F162? Have 2 Long A's and one has a Delco 000048E29 gen and other has Chrysler setup. Want to stay with original 6v. The generators are both shot.

A shop that rebuilds alternators, generators and starters may be able to rebuild them. I think 6 volt alternators are available. Hal

Noboby repairs generators around my area. I usually do my own. Being a Long Model A,I don''t know what is original. Both will spin if 6 v applied but no output but battery voltage. I am missing something.

Have you measured your charging voltage at the battery? On a 6 volt battery you should see about 7.5 to 8 volts with the engine at 1/2 throttle or better. Hal

There are times you need to modify. Here's the shop that rebuilt my DR generator in 2008. They said they can rebuild the 6 volt generators. You can call them or write them. They do good work. Hal

They would need to check out your generators before giving you a price. It's going to be expensive being in Canada
with shipping charges. You can call them with the model numbers off your old generators to see if they have 6 volt replacements. Hal

Finally got fed up! Found a Massey 27 combine with original components, Pulled off reg and generator and wiring. Cleaned up generator, installed and it works like a charm. Thanks guys for input! Combine had been sitting for 50 years but regulator worked!
