working on my 384 Leyland-Ser# 84N/303333/Z 153245, I had tractor given to me and when working on it, found trans and rear-end gears and bearing where bad. Got another complete (so I thought) rear/trans for it. Ran into few issues with the two units. My original draught controls has three linkages to operate hydraulics/draught. The other one has two linkages and did not have a hydraulic pump with it. My questions are, 1. which one is the newer unit and is it better. 2. are the hydraulic pumps different between the two. 3. cant either unit interchange as long as there complete. 4. how do I plum the units to get external hook up to work cylinders. My goal for this tractor is to have dual hydraulics to mow and run round baler. I do have an manual and I also see there is a diff, but can not find anything about hydraulic pumps. Is there any web sights on looking up ser # for more info for this tractor.

Tractor runs and sound great-Perkins diesel. Is this tractor worth the aggravations. So far is seems to be very simple to work on but parts are very hard to get in my area. Pa,US. Tractor in fairly good shape and like I said prior, engine sounds good with good oil psi. Any help is appreciated and to much info will be awesome. Need a lot of info on the two diff hydraulic systems.

Tractor was built approx 1972, one of the last ones of that model... should have a Leyland 4/98 engine not a perkins (unless someone has swapped it).

As for the hydraulics, the 3 level unit is the newer version, as far as i know the pumps can be swapped, or the complete unit can be swapped also, they are interchangeable, just the 3 lever one is an "update"...

For remote hydraulics, the is a hydraulic port on the right hand side that should be the aux output for the hydraulics, it is only single acting, so it you require double acting, the an aftermarket valve block will need to be used...
best place for leyland questions...
